I have been into fitness since I was 14 years old.  As a youth I played soccer and baseball and loved any board or extreme sport (skateboarding, snowboarding, wakeboarding, motorcycles etc…) As I was finishing my degree at Chico State I began to personally train people in the gym.  Most of what I did was bodybuilding orientated, as this was my passion in the gym.  After college I knew I didn’t want to fall into a corporate sales job so I moved back home and took a job at 24 hr fitness as a personal trainer while I figured things out.  I quickly realized I was one of the only employees who knew anything about fitness, let alone had a personal passion for staying fit and healthy.  I was offered a position at a private training studio and knew that if I wanted this to be my career I would need to make my own path.  I was a very passionate and creative personal trainer but I always felt like there was something more that I could offer, so I was always searching online for new movements and methods, this is when I discovered CrossFit.  The more I read and the more I incorporated CrossFit with my members the more it made sense, everything I did and had my members do had a purpose.  They loved the workouts and the results were amazing. At that time the closest CrossFit gym was in Sacramento, no one had heard of CrossFit so along with my partner, Vince Carter, we opened the areas first CrossFit gym, CrossFit 209 Sport.  Eight years later CrossFit 209 Sport is the largest CrossFit gym in the world, and in my opinion the most well staffed.

As a coach I believe that fitness should be fun, it should be celebrated, and it should last.  It must become a lifestyle and without these things it simply will not.  I love watching the transformation that takes place from the time someone comes in on their first day, scared, nervous, overweight, out of shape and sometimes even a little depressed, and over the course of the days, week, months and years, everything changes.  They become who they want to be, confident, healthy, fit, excited to take on the challenge ahead of them, and I love to administer it.  Helping people change their lives has changed my life.  I believe that’s what I am on this earth to do, and if that’s what I’m here for ill be damned sure to give it every bit of what I am and who I am.
